After undergoing a thorough feasibility study conducted by the global museum planning firm, Gallagher & Associates (G&A), the Lewes Historical Society determined it was time to modernize their marketing and organization as a whole. The Lewes Historical Society partnered with ILD to implement our Creative Cure process to brand “Historic Lewes”, increase awareness, and drive more visitors to its events, historic sites, and museums. Historic Lewes promotes and advocates the preservation, interpretation, and cultural enrichment of Lewes, Delaware, through museum exhibits, educational programs, historical research, and publications.
ILD’s chief creative officer, Jay Winkler stated, “While developing the new brand and creating a logo, our art director and design team were inspired by similarities in letterpress type and the shape of an 18th century anchor. The “L” is formed by this style anchor, with the top becoming the crossbar of the “H”. The final logo’s colors, navy blue and gold and its form speak to the rich maritime history that Historic Lewes celebrates through its beautifully curated exhibits.”
Our team worked closely with the Lewes Historical Society (LHS) marketing committee to create the new brand identity, tagline, website, and advertising campaign. LHS executive director, Andrew Lyter, said that "We feel the new mark, campaign, and site preserve our organization's mission while helping us introduce all that Historic Lewes has to offer to a new generation."
