To celebrate the Class of 2026, Salem Community College (SCC) partnered with Idea Lab Digital (ILD) to create a commencement video that felt less traditional and more like an upbeat celebration of the student experience at SCC. Drawing inspiration from the resurgence of 1990s design and video aesthetics, the production blended student interviews with retro graphics, nostalgic visual treatments, and upbeat storytelling to create a commencement piece that felt both familiar and fresh.
The Approach
Rather than producing a conventional highlight reel, we embraced the bold colors, playful typography, and analog-inspired textures that have become popular once again across social media and pop culture. Designed for both the live commencement ceremony and continued viewing online, the video captures the pride and optimism of SCC students and provided the Class of 2026 a memorable keepsake.
The Result
The finished video delivered a unique, energetic celebration of Salem Community College's graduating class — proving that a thoughtful creative concept can transform a traditional commencement video into an experience that resonates well beyond graduation day.
