SCC Video Viewbook: Educational Advertising Awards – Gold Winner!

• College viewbooks are traditionally designed to be printed pieces or published as PDF flipbooks, but Salem Community College (SCC) recently challenged the creative team at Idea Lab Digital to shoot, edit and produce a video in a two week timeframe for their spring banquet.

  Upon completion of the project we discovered the video is basically a viewbook in motion. A happy accident indeed, as this video can and will be repurposed by SCC across the web, social media and beyond. In addition, we’ve laid the groundwork and developed a template for higher education marketers and recruiters.

  In the University Business article, "College Viewbooks: Alive and Kicking", Ann Oleson states, "While digital and electronic channels have increased… viewbooks are still alive and well." This statement was made over five years ago and we agree, but why not make a video viewbook as social media usage continues to increase?
